Delivering a New M&S Foodhall for Godalming

Marks & Spencer is proposing a new, fresh market-style Foodhall that will bring the best of M&S Food to Godalming

Key Features:

  • The new M&S Food will bring a wide selection of fresh, seasonal produce from M&S Select Farms, alongside everyday essentials and a unique range of M&S products not currently available in the town

  • Customer parking (170 spaces) including 10 Parent and Child and 10 Blue badge spaces conveniently located near store entrance

  • Deliveries will be managed via a dedicated service area, separate from customer parking and entrances. This ensures that HGV access remains efficient and safe, without disrupting the customer experience or compromising pedestrian safety.

  • 24 secure cycle parking spaces

  • New, modern servicing facilities and access improvements via Woolsack Way

  • A fully deliverable scheme, with plans to open in Spring / Summer 2026

Since 2015, M&S has worked with redistribution platform Neighbourly across its store network to make sure any edible food surplus reaches local foodbanks and charities. The equivalent of over 100million meals have been donated to those who need it most through the partnership.

M&S Employment Initiatives

  • The new Foodhall will create up to 80 new jobs, providing local employment opportunities.

  • Marks & Start – M&S' employability scheme has supported 30,000 people, including 12,000 young people facing barriers to employment gain their crucial first step on the career ladder. Delivered in partnership with The King's Trust, the programme offers hands-on experience, skills training and confidence-building support and over 800 young people across the South East have completed the scheme.

  • Front line management training programmes to help colleagues step up into Team Manager roles.

  • Level 4 apprenticeship programme in Retail Management aimed at school leavers and customer assistants.

  • Retail graduate programme to support Store Management pipeline.
